Choosing a Farm Venue in the Smokies
May 11, 2020Sampson’s Hollow… What is old is new again and again…..
May 26, 2020Honeymoon Ideas are all around you as you plan your upcoming wedding. With the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in our “back yard” we enjoy having many activities all around. Obviously our area is filled with ideas and attractions that catch the eye of all who visit. Certainly everyone has their own tastes in adventure and the Smokies doesn’t disappoint. If you are a more nature lover you have the full Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Our area is filled with attractions and we thought we would feature three different ones for you to consider visiting when the wedding is over and you are sharing fun together as man and wife!
#1 Anakeesta
Anakeesta is a great way to spend a day in Gatlinburg. Anakeesta is located in downtown Gatlinburg and near other attractions and dining most enjoy when in town. Find Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies across the street, along with the simple fun of the downtown Gatlinburg experience, walking both sides of downtown, eating, shopping and people watching! It’s awesome.
Anakeesta is voted the best attraction in Tennessee! Discover the Longest Treetop Skywalk in North America, the Chondola, Dueling Ziplines, the Rail Runner Mountain Coaster and the Treetop Firefly Village when you ride to the top of the mountain. People have enjoyed and commented expressly on the Memorial Forest Walk, (built in memory of the Gatlinburg 2016 fires) and the Vista Gardens.
There are several dining opportunities, all of which will be enjoyed! Try the Cliff Top Bar and Grill, the Smokyhouse BBQ for a hearty meal for all ages. You may want to try Pearl’s Pie in the Sky for a fresh treat and those Beavertails, well you need to discover those on your own!
There are cool shopping opportunities also for those who want a souvenir or maybe an investment in awesome outdoor gear from their Great Outdoor Trading Post and their Adventure Outpost.
#2 The Island
While the name “The Island” might give the impression that our most popular Pigeon Forge activity square is set on some waterbed somewhere in town, it is in fact located dead center downtown Pigeon Forge and has incredibly convenient accessibility from almost anywhere you come in from. You can enter and find parking straight off the main parkway or you can come in from the rear entrance on Teaser Lane to a HUGE parking lot that was designed to be hard to fill up. The Island has its own free trolley service for those who may find it difficult to walk across the length to get to, like Dollywood.
Once you get inside, an awe will come over you as you see exactly why The Island is so popular – incredible sights and stores fill the property alongside restaurants, attractions, and pretty much everything you’d need if you and your group wanted to stay the afternoon.
Here’s a quick look at what you can find at The Island:
